INTRODUCTION

Jim TafelTafel Racing, owned by Jim Tafel (Alpharetta, Ga.)and Tony Dowe (Cumming, Ga.) is based in Cumming, Ga. Veteran Dowe is also Technical Director. The two-car operation switched to the Ferrari F430 GTC in 2008 still riding on Michelin Pilot Racing slicks. Drivers Dominik Farnbacher (Ansbach, Germany) and Dirk Müller (German now living in Monaco) drive the No. 71 Tafel/Bell Micro Racing Ferrari F430 GTC for the full season while Jim Tafel pilots the No. 73 with Alex Figge (Denver). Drivers Rob Bell (Northants, England), Pierre Ehret (Germany) and Allan Simonsen (Denmark) fill out the endurance race lineup. The second-year American Le Mans Series GT2 class team is contesting for the Team, Driver and IMSA Cup titles. They debuted in the Series in 2007, earning third in the season-long GT2 Team Championship with six combined podium finishes including a third at the 12 Hours of Sebring and second, twice, at the Petit Le Mans and Monterey Sports Car Championships. Prior to joining the ALMS, Tafel Racing competed for two seasons in the Grand-Am Series GT class finishing second, fifth and tenth in the 2006 Team Championship combing three cars for five wins and 12 podium finishes. In 2005, Tafel Racing made its professional debut nearly taking a podium at the 24 At Daytona (finishing fourth less than 40 seconds behind third-place) and finishing fifth in the season GT Team standings.
