| Tafel Racing In Three States This Weekend |
Street Sense at Pimlico, Tafel ALMS at Miller, Tafel Grand-Am at LagunaCumming, Georgia – Tafel Racing will be spread across the U.S.A. this weekend. James Tafel, and Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense, will be at Pimlico on Saturday going for the second leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown in the Preakness Stakes. Jim Tafel, son, will be behind the wheel of his American Le Mans Series (ALMS) Tafel Racing Porsche 997 RSR at Miller Motorsport Park in Utah. Jim’s Grand-Am Rolex Series team will also be on the track on Saturday at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California. All of the Tafel steeds will be on the track at the same time on Saturday afternoon, May 19.“It will be a big day on Saturday, a lot going on,” said Jim Tafel. “My heart will be with my Father and Street Sense at Pimlico going for the second leg of the Triple Crown in the Preakness. My head will be behind the wheel at Miller Motorsport Park with my ALMS team. My Grand-Am team will be at Laguna Seca, all on the same day, in three different time zones, and at some point all at the same time.” The Tafel Racing American Le Mans Series cars feature Jim Tafel and Dominik Farnbacher in the No. 73 Porsche 997. Wolf Henzler and Robin Liddell drive the companion Tafel Racing No. 71 car. In the Grand-Am Rolex Series, Andrew Davis and Nathan Swartzbaugh drive the No. 70 North-South/Tafel Racing/Porsche 997 Cup car. Eric Lux and fill-in co-driver Ian James drive the No. 72 Rembrandt Charms 997. Wolf Henlzler usually drives with Lux, but will be at Miller Motorsport Park with the ALMS effort. “It is no small task to manage these programs,” Tafel continued. ‘Much like my Father’s horse racing operation, it takes the best people and a lot of resources to maintain front running efforts.” On Saturday, May 19 all of the Tafel racing assets will be on track simultaneously. Street Sense will take to the gate at the Preakness at 6:05 p.m. EDT in Baltimore at Pimlico. Jim Tafel will get behind the wheel of his Porsche at 5:05 p.m. Mountain Time for a two-hour-and-forty-five minute race in Utah. The Tafel Rolex Series team will take to the track at 3:20 p.m. Pacific Time for their two-and-a-half hour race at Laguna Seca in California.
Street Sense will take to the gate in pursuit of the Triple Crown of horse racing at the Preakness Stakes on Saturday, May 19 at approximately 6:05 p.m. on NBC. The last Triple Crown winner was Affirmed in 1978. |
